Australian and New Zealand headquartered Bastion Security Group ('Bastion') has signed an agreement to merge with Astralas, a specialist cybersecurity architecture and security engineering professional services provider headquartered in Melbourne, Australia. This marks Bastion's fourth strategic combination in Australia following the integrations of managed services providers Cythera and Seamless Intelligence, and professional services provider Phronesis Security. The transaction is expected to complete in February 2026. The leaders of Astralas will remain invested in Bastion.
Astralas brings deep technical expertise and professional services experience in security architecture, security engineering and automation, identity and access management, and cloud consulting and engineering. Since its founding in early 2021, Astralas has grown to a team of over 60 highly experienced cybersecurity and cloud professionals, serving some of Australia’s largest organisations with a particular focus on financial services, telecommunications and critical infrastructure for enterprise clients.
This strategic move deepens Bastion’s professional services capability in Australia and reinforces its commitment to delivering end to end cybersecurity services. Astralas’ strong customer relationships, specialised technical capabilities, and emphasis on tailored, practical outcomes complements Bastion’s mission to provide best-in-class protection against emerging cybersecurity threats.
Through this merger, Astralas’ clients will gain access to Bastion’s broad service portfolio – spanning managed security operations (including a 24/7 security operations centre supported by integrated, industry-leading tooling), governance, risk and compliance, penetration testing, cloud and network security, cyber strategy advisory services, and threat intelligence – while continuing to receive the high-value, specialised professional services that Astralas is known for.
Following completion of the transaction, Bastion will have more than 250 cybersecurity professionals across the Group, with more than half of the team located in Australia. Bastion will operate from six offices across Australia and New Zealand, further strengthening its ability to support customers nationally and regionally.
Bastion’s CEO, Eugene Gibney, said "Astralas’ reputation for technical excellence, pragmatic delivery and client focus makes them a highly strategic addition to the Bastion Group. We’re excited to work with a team that shares our values and commitment to elevating cybersecurity outcomes for organisations in Australia and New Zealand. Their capabilities will play an important role in our continued growth, and deliver richer, more integrated solutions for our customers."
Astralas Directors, Matt Lowth and Ben Smith, said "We are delighted to announce that Astralas is joining forces with Bastion Security Group further strengthening Bastion’s established Australia and New Zealand cybersecurity platform. By pairing Astralas' market-leading expertise in security strategy, architecture, and engineering with Bastion’s proven "build and run" capabilities, we are now uniquely positioned to deliver high quality end-to-end security outcomes at scale. This merger allows us to offer our existing customers a significantly broader suite of services while introducing our specialised expertise to Bastion's clientele, ensuring a depth of offering that is unmatched in the local market."
The merger is good news for all stakeholders, including staff, management, and customers. The leadership team at Astralas will remain in place and the Astralas team will integrate over time with Bastion's Australian operations, leveraging the best of both organisations to strengthen the Group's professional services capabilities and enhance presence in the Australian market.
